In a recent Livability.com list, Murfreesboro and Smyrna ranked #1 and #2 in a list of most affordable cities in Tennessee.

According to the article Murfreesboro rated #1 because of great schools, lots of jobs, and low cost of living. The median household income is $50,000, and the median home value is $175,500 according to livability.com Arts, rave restaurants, and outdoor activities were also factored in.

Smyrna came in at #2. Named one of the top 10 cities to retire in by US News and World Report in 2007, Smyrna’s low cost of living and low property taxes (3rd lowest in State) were the two biggest factors. Also, proximity to Nashville, Nissan, and the small town feel played a large part in the decision.
