On Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at approximately 2:10 AM, a Murfreesboro Police Officer
was conducting a patrol check of the parking area of 2424 S. Church Street when he found 2 individuals sitting in a car. He approached and attempted to speak with them. They were
uncooperative and fled the scene. As they fled the officer was struck by the vehicle.

He was able to return to his patrol vehicle and attempt to stop them. They failed to stop and continued traveling onto I24. Murfreesboro Police aided by Rutherford County Deputies did pursue the vehicle into Coffee County until the vehicle was stopped by Coffee County Deputies through the use of a tire deflation device. The driver then physically resisted officers and a Taser device was deployed in order to take him into custody.

The two were identified as Justin Arwood and Sarah Dalton. Ms. Dalton was found to have an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for Violation of Probation. Mr. Arwood had an outstanding hold warrant and now faces additional charges of Driving on a Revoked License, Reckless Driving, Felony Evading Arrest and Aggravated Assault. They were both booked into the Rutherford County Jail.

The officer sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.
