MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Murfreesboro police officer has been decommissioned while the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation investigates an alleged sexual assault at Middle Tennessee State University last weekend.

TBI spokesperson Susan Niland said the alleged incident happened at the university’s football stadium on Saturday.

In a statement released Tuesday, the police department acknowledged the TBI’s investigation involving Officer Mark Todd, saying in part, “The MPD is aware that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is investigating a report of an alleged sexual assault that took place at an MTSU football game involving an off-duty MPD officer.”

Police spokesman Kyle Evans said Officer Todd has since been placed on “decommissioned status in an administrative function pending the outcome of the investigation.”

Evans said the department is cooperating fully with the TBI as the investigation continues.
