The Murfreesboro City Council will meet at Patterson Park Community Center and some City Boards and Commissions will conduct meetings in Conference Room 218 on the second floor of City Hall during renovations to Council Chambers, June 17 – July 11, 2016.
City Council will be held at the Patterson Park Community Center, 521 Mercury Boulevard, Dining Room (Room E). The Planning Commission will meet in Conference Room 218.
The Murfreesboro City School Board Meetings for June will be on Monday June 13 and Tuesday June 28. The meetings will are from 6-8 p.m. and will be held at the Murfreesboro City Schools Administrative Offices at 2552 S. Church Street, 37127.
Board and Commission meetings will have limited seating in Conference Room 218 during the period of renovation. Council along with various Boards and Commission meetings will not be televised on CityTV during the renovations but will be recorded on audio for the purpose of public record and meeting minutes.
On April 7, 2016, City Council approved a $57,244 contract with Rice Construction Company of Murfreesboro to renovate the City Council Chambers as part of the 2016 Capitol Improvement Project budget. Construction will include installation of new auditorium seating, carpeting, ceiling tile, and painting as well as replacement of existing television lighting.
During Council Chamber renovation, Ryze Building Group will complete redesign work on the City of Murfreesboro Communications Department production facility located next to Council Chambers. The redesign is part of CityTV’s conversion from standard definition (SD) to high definition (HD). City Council approved a $151,120 contract with Ryze Building Group awarded as part of a sealed bid invitation February 22, 2016, and received March 17, 2016. Johnson + Bailey Architects will oversee the renovations and design work.
During renovations, the City Communications Department will be temporarily relocated to the second floor, Room 225 beginning Wednesday June 15 and will remain in Room 255 until October 31, 2016.
