Murfreesboro Police Department
On Saturday, November 3, 2018, at approximately 5:00 pm, Murfreesboro Police Officers
responded to a one vehicle crash near 1002 E. Northfield Blvd. The crash involved a 2005
Honda Odyssey. The investigation revealed the vehicle was travelling westbound on E.
Northfield Blvd. and struck the curb multiple times before leaving the roadway and striking a fire hydrant causing it to roll onto its side. The crash resulted in both occupants being trapped in the vehicle.
Both occupants were extricated by Murfreesboro Fire Rescue personnel. The passenger was
pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was treated on scene by Rutherford County
Emergency Services and transported him to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. Upon release
from treatment he was taken in to custody and charged with Vehicular Homicide, Driving
Under the Influence, 3rd Offense and Violation of the Open Container Law. He is currently
being held at the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department under $264,000 bond.
The passenger has been identified as Bryan Keith Downing, Jr. (dob 9/23/1985) of
Murfreesboro, TN.
The driver has been identified as Bryan Keith Downing (dob 6/19/1959) of Murfreesboro, TN. He had minor injuries.
