Murfreesboro Citizens no longer have to make a trip to City Hall or use the postal service to make property tax payments.
Melissa Wright, City Recorder/Finance Director for the City of Murfreesboro, announced today that an innovative new website has gone live to help the property taxpayers of Murfreesboro, and those who need to access property tax information online. The web site address is available at https://www.murfreesborotntax.com/#/ and will take you to the tax information for the City of Murfreesboro.
“Our new Online Tax web site allows our citizens to ‘Search, View, and Pay their Property Taxes’ from the convenience of their home or office,” said Finance Director Melissa Wright. “Citizens can pay online via Pay Pal® using Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover credit/debit cards or Forte Payment Services using an e-check. In addition, citizens can print a copy of their tax bill or a paid receipt, using the web site features.”
“Providing Murfreesboro customers with added convenience is in keeping with our focus on customer service,” said City Manager Rob Lyons. “Along with other electronic payment technology such as online billing for water and sewer services in recent years, this online tax payment system enhances our customer service.”
The online tax payment site was developed and will be maintained by Sturgis Web Services of Fort Mill, South Carolina www.sturgiswebservices.com. Pay Pal® is an ebay® company and is the largest secure Internet provider globally. Forte Payment Services, founded in 1998, is headquartered in Allen, Texas, and was named to the Inc. 5000 list in 2015 for the eighth consecutive year.
A convenience fee is added for credit/debit card transactions of approximately 2.25% (subject to change) of the charged amount that will be added to your payment and paid directly to the credit card service provider. The fee added for e-checks is a flat $1.50.
“Our Tax and Finance office will continue to look for opportunities to make our citizen services more convenient,” added Wright.
