Multiple Rutherford County Safety Agencies, including the La Vergne Fire and Rescue, Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue, Murfreesboro Police Department, and Rutherford County Fire and Rescue deployed Monday night to assist with land search and rescue efforts in east Tennessee from Hurricane Helene.

The search and rescue team deployed from the Rutherford County Emergency Management Agency building on West College Street around 9:00 p.m. The La Vergne Fire and Rescue members are Battalion Chief Patrick Hood, Lieutenant John Partridge, Lieutenant Micah Meshotto, and Firefighter Tyler McCormick. The Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue members who deployed are Battalion Chief Wesley Slager, Captain Jeremy Spivey, Engineers John Fisher, Chad Wisniewski, and Firefighter Patrick Welch. Rutherford County Fire and Rescue members deployed are Firefighters John Sympson, Ethan Mabe, Jake Libby, and Gage Dotson.

The teams will report to Unicoi County, Tennessee, for a morning pre-deployment briefing at the staging area. The deployment duration is currently three to four days.

La Vergne Fire Chief Ronny Beasley and Murfreesboro Police Department Deputy Chief Cary Gensemer deployed earlier to join the Incident Management Team.

“This is how we support our neighbors,” said Rutherford County Public Safety Director Chris Clark. “When a crisis happens in Tennessee, we pull together and help where needed.”

“We are standing together with our neighbors in Unicoi County during this extremely challenging period, and we pledge to assist in any way possible,” said Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Chief Mark McCluskey. “During a crisis, it is imperative for us to unite and demonstrate our strength as a state and support each other.”
