A pair of gifted pianists will fill MTSU’s Wright Music Building with “mesmerizing” classical music Sunday, Oct. 2, when the university’s Keyboard Artist Series continues with its second public concert of the season.

Elisabeth and Eugene Pridonoff, who perform as The Pridonoff Duo, will perform at 3 p.m. Oct. 2 in the Wright Building’s Hinton Music Hall. A searchable campus map is available at http://tinyurl.com/MTSUParkingMap.

“Their playing is mesmerizing,” said Adam Clark, a professor of piano in MTSU’s School of Music. “I’m always in awe of the level of musicianship and artistry they bring to every performance. They’ve been playing together for more than 30 years and always offer programs that are exciting, accessible and fun.”

The Oct. 2 performance will include “Suite No. 1” by Anton Arensky, “Three Danses Andalouses” by Manuel Infante, “The Garden of Eden (Four Rags for Two Pianos)” by William Balcom, “The Planets” by Gustav Holst and “Fantasy” by Sergei Rachmaninoff.

The Pridonoffs made their formal debut in 1982 with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra. They’ve served in artists’ residencies at the University of Cincinnati since 1986 and have performed worldwide in venues and events ranging from the Kennedy Center to the Barcelona Piano Festival. The duo, both Steinway Artists, now live in Scottsdale, Arizona, where they continue performing locally and internationally.

“It’s truly an honor to be able to present my former teachers on this series,” said Clark, who launched this season’s series earlier this month with a Rachmaninoff recital. “I studied with each of them during my doctoral work at the University of Cincinnati and learned so much that has helped me throughout my career. It is a real treat to be able to share their amazing talent with the Middle Tennessee community.”

A $10 donation is suggested for non-MTSU students and faculty for the Pridonoff Duo’s performance but isn’t required.

The Pridonoffs also will teach a master class for MTSU piano majors on Friday, Sept. 30, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in Hinton Hall. That class is also free and open to the public.

The 2016-17 Keyboard Artist Series, which features MTSU faculty and distinguished guest artists from around the world, includes two more concerts in Hinton Hall: a Jan. 29 recital by piano professor Charles Asche of the University of California, Santa Barbara; and a Feb. 27 concert by Arunesh Nadgir, coordinator of keyboard studies for MTSU’s School of Music.
