Middle Tennessee will add Tennessee State to its 2019 home schedule as announced by Director of Athletics Chris Massaro on Saturday.

The Blue Raiders and Tigers will meet on Sept. 7, 2019 at Floyd Stadium. It will mark the first meeting between the two neighboring schools since 1998. MT won that game, 28-27, before a crowd of over 27,000 at Floyd Stadium in the Blue Raiders’ final year of I-AA competition.

“We have been trying to schedule this game for a few years but working through dates, our change in conferences and their commitment to various classics made it difficult,” said Massaro. “I really want to thank Director of Athletics Teresa Phillips and Coach Rod Reed for getting this done. It’s a tremendous game for the entire mid-state area and we are very excited about the matchup”

Middle Tennessee and TSU have met 19 times on the football field with the Blue Raiders holding a slim 10-9 advantage.

The Blue Raiders have now completed their 2019 non-conference schedule. MT will travel to Michigan on Aug. 31, will host Duke on Sept. 14 and travel to Iowa on Sept. 28.
