The Middle Tennessee Ice Hockey club and MTSU Raiderthon has partnered with Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt to host a pizza party for the children and their families.
The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, January 19th at Ford Ice Center before the puck drops between the MTSU Blue Raiders and the University of Tennessee Ice Vols.
The pizza party offers an opportunity for the families to enjoy a fun-filled night together and engage with the MTSU hockey team. The children will be able to participate in game activities, board games and learn a few hockey tricks from the players. The families are invited to watch the game as MTSU welcomes special guest Alston for the ceremonial puck drop at 9:15 p.m.
Alston, a 15-year-old, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes nine days before his 14th birthday. He enjoys his active lifestyle, swimming, coaching Upward Basketball, and playing baseball for his high school or the community. He is thankful for Children’s Hospital because of the work it does to help him manage his diabetes and continue his active lifestyle.
MTSU Raiderthon, a student-led organization that works closely with Children’s Miracle Network, will be hosting a Miracle Minute fundraising challenge during intermissions. The goal of this challenge is to fill the donation buckets within under a minute. All proceeds will go towards Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
MTSU Raiderthon has raised over $34,000 dollars for the Children’s Hospital and continues its mission to help raise funds through its annual MTSU Raiderthon Fundraiser.
This event is not open to the public.
