Freshman Jacob Choge was named the South Region Men’s Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA Tuesday afternoon.

The freshman superstar continues to rack up the awards and break school records at Middle Tennessee. This is the first time in program history that a Blue Raider has won this award from the USTFCCCA.

One athlete from each region is chosen for this award. Choge beat out some of the top athletes in the region to earn this prestigious award.

So far this season, Choge has been named the Conference USA Athlete of the Week twice, named Freshman of the Meet and First Team All-Conference at the C-USA Championships after winning the 10k race, and named to the All-Region Team in the NCAA South Regional after finishing first overall in the 10k.

The Kapsabet City, Kenya, native has led the way in Middle Tennessee’s historic season, powering the Blue Raiders to their first-ever NCAA National Championship bid.

In the latest USTFCCCA poll, the Blue Raiders come in at No. 22 in the country, which is another school record for highest ranking in program history.
