Middle Tennessee setter Jacqueline Lux was named one of the 14 Conference USA student-athletes to receive the Fall Spirit of Service award, C-USA Commissioner Judy MacLeod announced.

The award is designed to recognize the league’s student-athletes who contribute to the community through service project efforts, are in good academic standing and through participation in their respective sport.

The award is presented three times each season, providing each conference member three representatives throughout the year. Today’s recipients represent athletes playing in fall sports: cross country, football, soccer and volleyball.

In her final season as a Blue Raider, Lux eclipsed the 1,000 career digs and 1,000 career assists marks. She capped the season seventh in the league with 8.77 assists per set in her first year at the position and also notched seven double-doubles this season.

Off the court, Lux participated in numerous activities in the Murfreesboro area and in her home state of Indiana. Lux spent time annually with Relay for Life on campus and participated in ‘Pinwheels for Prevention’ during April’s National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Lux also volunteered at Discovery School at Bellwood’s field day and spent time with Murfreesboro Parks for city beautification projects.

A political science major, Lux also worked on campaigns for John Gregg, the Democratic candidate for governor of Indiana, and participated in field work for the Tennessee democratic Headquarters in Nashville. The Shelbyville, Ind., native garnered Dean’s List honors throughout her career. The junior will graduate early in the spring and plans to enroll in Law School next fall.
