Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) Officer Allen Cox is retiring after more than 27 years of dedicated service.

Cox began his employment with MPD in May 1994.  He has served in various roles and positions throughout his career with the department.

“I will miss the people most,” Cox said when asked about his retirement.  “I’m looking forward to new adventures.”

Cox was honored Friday, Dec. 3, during a ceremony at Murfreesboro City Hall.

“I’ve learned in 27 years that you can make mistakes, but you can’t look back at the mistakes because you won’t see what’s coming at you,” Cox said.  “You have two choices in life, be a part of the problem or part of the solution, and I’ve tried to be a part of the solution.”

“We wish Allen the best in his retirement,” said City Manager Craig Tindall said. “Keep up the good fight, win the race, and keep the faith.”

Cox graduated from Cleveland State Community College Police Academy and attended Middle Tennessee State University.
