Ok, it’s been a busy Spring for severe weather, and today is proving to be another challenging day. The only 2 things we do know for sure are that it’s going to be windy all day and it’s going to rain. The question of severe weather today is answered in one word: humidity.

This morning will be relatively calm, but windy. Wind gusts of 25 mph are expected all day. Now, whether those winds drive enough humidity up from the south will dictate as to weather we will experience Level 3 storms today. Many schools around the state have closed in anticipation and we expect to make closing announcements for events as they become available.

So, at 6:00 this morning here’s what we know:

  • It will be a windy day. Gusts over 25 mph expected
  • It will storm today with arrival expected between 5-8 p.m. The severity of the storms are predicted at a level 3. The best case scenario is the humidity stays low enough we get typical spring time storms. Worst case is humidity jumps up in the afternoon and hail, straight line winds, heavy rains and spotty tornadoes will be possible.

Check our radar to help you with plans. We will be posting on Facebook and Twitter any watches or warnings should they be issued.
