Middle Tennessee Fire Agencies to Host Hands-On Training Exercises in Murfreesboro

Several Middle Tennessee fire agencies will host hands-on training (HOT) exercises in Murfreesboro as part of the Firehouse Expo 2018 National Conference.

The exercises, including live burns, will take place Tuesday, October 16 and Wednesday, October 17 at the Doug Young Public Safety Training Facility located at 701 Bridge Avenue.

Instructors from all over the United States will lead these courses.

Firehouse Expo is touted to be the “fastest growing fire-service event in North America.” Come see what your Middle Tennessee departments are doing to participate in this event!

​RIT Under Fire – LIVE FIRE

​This program provides firefighters with the skills to effectively operate as a member of a rapid-intervention team (RIT), including firefighter drags and carries, breaching, heavy lifting with hydraulic and pneumatic tools, cutting utilizing a variety of torches, and hands-on, scenario-based, training involving a firefighter mayday. Skills are practiced under Live Fire conditions.

Aggressive Fire Control, Flow Path, and VES Tactics – LIVE FIRE

​The class will focus on Controlling the Flow Path in a Smart, Safe, and Aggressive manner. Students will learn to Control, Isolate, and Understand Live Fire Behavior with specific focus on Fire Control, Fire Behavior, and Vent Enter Search. Live Fire Behavior experts from both Los Angeles County and Cobb County Fire Department’s will work together to provide the students with a peak skill set for the modern fire ground. This course will have three live fire rotating stations and will be physically demanding. Several course handouts will be provided.
