Grace Christian Academy quarterback Austin Amor accounted for four touchdowns, including the game-winner with 29 seconds left, as the Lions beat Middle Tennessee Christian, 26-22, in Murfreesboro on Friday.
Amor completed 10-of-17 passes for 139 yards, and scored touchdowns rushing, passing and in the return game. He ran 19 more times for 149 yards, including two scores.
MTCS running back Kemari McGowan was good, too, running 29 times for 187 yards and three touchdowns.
Amor ran for a 55-yard touchdown in the first quarter, cutting the MTCS lead to 8-6 in the first quarter after McGowan scored the game’s first eight points on a six-yard touchdown and a two-point conversion.
Amor added a 65-yard punt return for the game’s next touchdown.
Amor’s seven-yard scoring strike to Kolby Alonzo but GCA up 19-8 with 5:42 left in the game, then, it got crazy from there.
McGowan added touchdown runs of 28 and one yard with 4:50 and 3:31 left. He also scored a two-point conversion on the first, and the Cougars had their first lead of the night, 22-19, with 3:31 left.
But Amor scored the game-winner just over three minutes later.
MTCS (1-1) hosts King’s Academy next week, while Grace Christian (1-1) has a home game with Waverly Central.
