On Monday September 10, 2018 25 Lowes employees arrived at The Salvation Army of Rutherford and Cannon Counties at 7:00 am ready to work and help their community through the Lowes Heroes Project. This Project encourages Lowes employees to team together, adopt a volunteer project with a local nonprofit organization to make a difference. For the next 3 days employees from the following 8 Lowes stores; Murfreesboro, Nashville-Nolensville Pike, Hermitage, Columbia, Smyrna, Shelbyville, Spring Hill, and Mt Juliet, completed a few much-needed renovations at The Salvation Army, becoming heroes to The Salvation Army staff, volunteers, and life recovery residents in the process.

2018 lowes heroes projectAs heroes often do they exceeded their original plan of refurbishing The Salvation Army kitchen, dining room, and male dormitory bathroom by also giving the front lobby a fresh look with new paint and flooring while upgrading outdoor playground equipment and fencing. Over $25,000 worth of renovations were completed in 3 days by more than 100 Lowes employees.  The impact the Lowes employees made ended up being much more than the paint that was applied, the floors that were laid, or the new cabinets that were installed, these employees teamed up with The Salvation Army by providing HOPE and A HAND UP too many local families in need.

Last year The Salvation Army of Rutherford and Cannon Counties provided 11,784 night of lodging through their 50-bed life recovery homeless shelter and prepared and served over 40,000 meals though its daily community meal which is open to the public at 5 pm, 365 days a year. The pictures above showcase the transformational improvements that were made in The Salvation Army building located at 1137 West Main Street, Murfreesboro, TN 37129. The staff, volunteers, and life recovery residents of The Salvation Army see this as a wonderful blessing helping them fulfill its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human need in His name without discrimination in the local community.
