Living in the South means most of us love a good Southern meal. From fried chicken and mashed potatoes or some sweet apple pie, it seems to be our culture. This is why the Rutherford Source wanted to reach out to y’all southerners and show you some local southern restaurants in your area. So save the hassle of mom having to cook a big meal and head to these three places.
- Jeff Family Resturant
As diners enter Jeff’s Family Friendly Restaurant, they walk through the cafeteria-style line and order their meats, veggies, bread and dessert. The restaurant serves fried chicken, meatloaf, pork chops, barbecue chicken, catfish and more every day. You have a wide variety of vegetables: greens, corn, mashed potatoes, okra, green beans and sweet potato casserole.

Hours: Mon.–Sat.: 11 a.m.–6 p.m.; Sun.: 11 a.m.–5 p.m.
Kleer-Vu has now been open for more then 40 years. Diners enter the Lunchroom with a cafeteria-style line and can order made from scratch vegetables, meats, and sweets daily. Fried chicken and made-to-order fish is served daily. But various meats are served depending on the day.
Here’s the meat schedule:
•Mondays — Roast beef, baked ham
•Tuesdays — Pulled pork and baked chicken
•Wednesdays — Liver and onions and barbecued shoulder
•Thursdays — Meatloaf and smothered pork steak
•Fridays and Saturdays — Chicken and dressing, barbecue ribs, meat spaghetti and pigs feet

3. Fish House
When you first hear the name you may think they only serve fish, but they serve all your country cravings. Fish house is known for the 1 lb. fish sandwich and their catfish but offer homemade vegetables and meats everyday. 50 cent wings are served every Wednesday and family packs are only 20 dollars. Their Sunday Dinner changes every week but they offer meats such as fried chicken, pork chops, and seasoned turkey necks.
