Thanksgiving Day is Thursday, November 28, 2019. In the past, retailers have chosen to open on Thanksgiving Day to get a boost on Black Friday sales. However, many shopping establishments have decided to close on Thanksgiving.

BestBlackFriday.com reports that according to a survey they conducted, 72 percent of consumers believe stores should be closed on Thanksgiving Day. The survey went on to say consumers would rather spend Thanksgiving at home than out in traffic and shopping among strangers. And with most retailers offering online shopping, even on Thanksgiving Day, consumers can shop online and not feel compelled to shop in stores for the same deals.
