Lengthy Pursuit From La Vergne to Murfreesboro Ends in Multiple Arrests

Two people are in custody following a lengthy pursuit lasting nearly an hour Wednesday morning that started in La Vergne and ended in a rural part of Murfreesboro.

Officers attempted to pull over the driver, identified as Christopher McMahan (45), around 10:45 a.m. on Taylor Drive. McMahan led officers on a pursuit through Smyrna and Murfreesboro before stopping in front of his home on Cranon Road in rural Murfreesboro around 11:30 a.m. McMahan and his passenger, identified as Donna Shelton (49), were taken into custody without further incident.

Officers from Smyrna Police Department, Murfreesboro Police Department and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Officer aided in the chase.

McMahan is charged with two counts of reckless endangerment, evading arrest, assault, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a revoked license and theft by criminal simulation. His bond was set at $33,000. A hearing is set Jan. 13 in General Sessions Court.

Shelton is charged with resisting arrest. Her bond was set at $1,500. A hearing was set Jan. 23 in General Sessions Court.
