Here are our picks for Rutherford County Players of the Week, in descending order.

Kemari McGowan, running back, MTCS

Siegel's Lelan Wilhoite Unstoppable Again on Friday
Middle Tennessee Christian running back Kemari McGowan had another great game on Friday.

McGowan has become a fixture on this list. On Friday, the MTCS running back ran 18 times for 156 yards and added three two-point conversions, in a 46-6 rout at Ezell-Harding.

Ethan Cobb, quarterback, Eagleville

Dual-Threat Cobb Stars for Eagleville Again Friday

Cobb’s another guy who finds his way on to this list more often than not. On Friday, Cobb completed 12-of-18 passes for 187 yards and two scores, and ran 15 times for 75 and two more TDs against Community. The 4-1 Eagles have now surpassed last year’s win total thanks to the play of their junior signal-caller.

Cordel Braxton, running back, Blackman

No Master Teague, no problem for Blackman on Friday, thanks to Cordell Braxton. With Blackman’s star runner out with a minor ankle issue, Braxton stepped in and ran for over 150 yards before half (including an 87-yard TD run) before leaving with concussion-like symptoms of his own. Here’s video of that long run in the Blaze’s 35-3 win over Siegel.

Connor Mitchell, quarterback, Blackman

Mitchell had a big hand in Blackman’s win also, running for 62 yards and two touchdowns. Mitchell also completed 10-of-16 throws for 140 yards and two more scores. Here are video highlights of Mitchell’s big evening.

Jeron Rooks, running back, Oakland

Oakland’s amazing season continues, thanks to the Patriots’ fantastic rushing attack. On Friday, it was Rooks who ran 14 times for 143 yards and three scores, as the Patriots beat Riverdale, 43-14. (Photo courtesy of Rajayna Riley.)
