The MTCS Cougars are coming off a season that saw a school record set for rushing, but didn’t make the playoffs. After making the playoffs the previous two years, a 4-4 regional record and 6-4 overall was not good enough for the Region that supplied the State Championship.

Nashville Christian dominated Class 1A on the way to the state championship. The rest of the chase was pretty close. MTCS was led by senior Running Back Tanner Green. The Senior rushed for over 1,100 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also caught two more and saw time on defense. Tanner set a school record for TDs at 32 and had over 2,900 yards for his career at MTCS. He will be continuing his education and football at Harding Universty in Searcy, Ar.

2016 Cougars Will Need Consistency

It was an up and down season for the Cougars last year . Wins over the bottom tier of the region were easy to come by with wins over teams like Red Boiling Springs, Gordonsville, and Pickett County. MTCS will have to find consistency and a way to win and keep momentum when facing teams like Jo Byrns, Nashville Christian, and Trousdale County . If they can find their winning ways back from two years ago, the Cougars will be hard to beat this year.
