The Town of Smyrna wishes to offer condolences to the family of Bob Spivey, who passed away on Wednesday night.
Spivey was Smyrna’s Mayor from 2001-2009 and was deeply involved in private business ventures, including Imperial Foods.
“It was a privilege to work with Mayor Spivey as a Councilmember on the Town Council”, said current Smyrna Mayor, Mary Esther Reed. “He was instrumental in helping with Smyrna’s growth, especially in business development along Sam Ridley Parkway.”
During Spivey’s tenure as Mayor, one of the major retail development projects to come to Smyrna is the Colonial Town Park Shopping Center, which includes Target, Kohl’s and Kirklands.
