Former MTSU Player Tees Off In U.S. Open Thursday

ROSWELL, GA – Kent Bulle, a former Middle Tennessee golfer and current member of the Web.com Tour, will see a dream come true as he will be competing in the 2016 U.S. Open at Oakmont. Bulle made it through sectional qualifying today at Ansley Golf Club (Settindown Creek Course, par 72, 7,332 yards) in Roswell, GA to grab one of the coveted spots in the field.

Bulle, tees off at 11:41 CST from the 10th tee. He will be grouped with American Zach Edmondson and Swedish player Sebastian Soderburgh. Both also who got in through qualifiers.

Bulle, who played for the Blue Raiders from 2006 to 2010, carded an 11-under par total over 36 holes to win the event. Bulle fired a 3-under 69 in the first round then shot a blistering 64 over the final 18 holes to grab victory by three strokes. He had 12 birdies on the day, including an eagle on the par 4 number 15 in round two.

He is only the second Blue Raider to ever play in the U.S. Open and first since Brett Patterson in 2011 at the Congressional Country Club.

Has made three cuts in eight events on the 2016 Web.com Tour.

The U.S. Open, this year’s second major championship on the PGA Tour, will be played June 16-19 at the Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, PA. This will be the first PGA Tour event for Bulle who hails from Glasgow, KY.
