Rutherford County Traffic Safety Task Force members teamed up to remove five impaired drivers off the streets during a sobriety checkpoint Friday on Rutherford Boulevard in Murfreesboro.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Lt. Shawn Boyd said the checkpoint was designed to remind drivers not to drive impaired.
Troopers, police officers and sheriff’s deputies focused on taking the impaired drivers off the road.
They checked 342 drivers.
Two drivers were charged with simple possession of marijuana and one underage driver was charged with possession of a firearm under age 21.
Task force members remind people who intend to drink and drive to get designated driver or take a ride share.
