The 5000 block of Murfreesboro Road in La Vergne was shut down temporarily Monday night as firefighters responded to a structure fire at Tobacco Brew & Chew.
The call came in at 9:06 p.m. reporting visible smoke, and crews arrived on scene two minutes later to find heavy smoke coming from the front of the business. Firefighters brought the fire under control within 10 minutes.
One person evacuated from the tobacco store before crews arrived, while several others left the adjacent Little Caesars. Firefighters also made entry into the Boost Mobile store in the middle unit of the structure, but no one was inside.
“There is heavy smoke damage to the tobacco store but the full extent of the damage won’t be known until investigations are complete,” said on-scene command Battalion Chief Cody Wilson.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the La Vergne Fire Marshal’s Office with assistance from a Rutherford County Fire Department investigator.
