Effective October 22, 2019, the “burn ban” has been lifted within the city limits of Murfreesboro.

Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department’s Fire Marshal Carl Peas had placed a mandatory ban effective Sept. 16, 2019, on burning in the city limits until further notice.

The ban was the direct result of dry vegetation due to lack of rainfall. At that time, Chief Peas had indicated, “until we receive a substantial amount of rain, we will not lift the burn ban,” said Peas.

“We appreciate the cooperation of the public and are today announcing the “burn ban” has been lifted now that conditions have become favorable again,” Peas continued.
