Murfreesboro Police Department’s Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT) responded to a fatality crash near 1253 NW Broad Street on Friday, May 17, 2019 at approximately 10:00 pm. Two adult pedestrians were struck by a 2003 Saturn SI3 which was traveling Southeast on NW Broad Street in the right travel lane.
Both pedestrians were transported to St Thomas Rutherford by Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services. Julie Wilkerson (01-03-1974) of Smyrna she was later pronounced deceased. Jimmy Layhew Jr (02-10-1973) of Nashville was then flown to Vanderbilt via Lifeflight where he is currently listed in stable condition.
The driver, Steven Gavel (08-24-1995) was not injured in the crash.
FACT is continuing to investigate and further information may be released at a later date.
