Christ Presbyterian Academy running back Sam West ran for a pair of first-half touchdowns, as the Lions remained unbeaten with a 28-0 victory at Smyrna (2-1) on Friday.
West ran six times for 84 yards for CPA (3-0). Two-way star Kane Patterson added 45 yards rushing and nine tackles on defense.
In a game played in wet conditions, CPA out-gained Smyrna, 279-233. The Lions didn’t turn the ball over, and forced two Smyrna miscues.
The Lions held Smyrna star Blake Watkins (20 carries, 80 yards) in check.
West ran for a 31-yard score in the game’s early moments, as CPA took a 7-0 lead.
CPA quarterback Ryan Elege connected with Noah Henderson on a 15-yard touchdown pass. Kicker Sebastian Stubblefield’s point-after gave the Lions a 14-0 lead just eight seconds into the second quarter.
CPA led 21-0 at the half. West had 76 rushing yards and two scores at the break.
The Lions’ Patterson had a long return of a blocked field goal in the first half.
Tucker Duncan added a fourth-quarter touchdown to cap the scoring.
Elege was 4-of-10 for 73 yards passing, and Smyrna’s Alex Bannister was 14-of-22 for 105 yards and an interception.
CPA hits the road to face Pearl Cohn next week, while the Bulldogs head to Blackman.
