It happened early and it happened often on a clear warm evening at Middle Tennessee Christian School Friday night. Homecoming festivties and returning alumni made for quite the buzz as the 2-0 Cougars took the field.

Sr. QB Joe Peck was impressive as he scored the first TD of the game on a 10 yard run at the 9:17 mark of the first quarter. A missed XP would make it 6-0 early and the Cougars never looked back. Peck would later toss an 8 yard pitch and catch to 6’1″ Jr. Joe Brady and the 1Q ended with the Cougars leading 13-0.

Sr. Asphaw Putty booted in a 33 yard field goal at the 6:19 mark of the second quarter and at 16-0 , the Cougars D decided to get in on the act. Monterey couldn’t get anything going due to a very stout defense and 2 interceptions in the second quarter. Peck threw for two more TDs, including a 55 yarder to 6’4″ Freshman Jackson Green and it was 30-0 at the half.

MTCS wins 46-6. They move to 3-0 and will take on Clay county on the road next Friday night. Clay County is 1-3 and lost 56-14 at home Friday night to Gordonsville.
