The City of Murfreesboro is conducting a Special Census!
On Tuesday, they hosted a kick-off event in the City Hall Rotunda. City employees joined for Donuts & Data and completed their census!
City officials believe Murfreesboro’s population has grown significantly since the U.S. Census Bureau’s last count in 2020. To receive additional shared state funding, there’s a need for an accurate population count.
The State of Tennessee collects and redistributes funding to municipalities based on their population. An increased count means more state revenue for Murfreesboro. This funding helps the City plan for essential services and growth, like repaving roads, building sidewalks, and improving park facilities.
