The upcoming Culture & Christianity Conference in Murfreesboro will move forward as scheduled but will now serve in part as a tribute to conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was set to speak at the event before his death earlier this week.
Kirk, the founder and CEO of Turning Point USA, was scheduled to headline the September 19–20 conference at World Outreach Church. He was shot and killed on September 10 at Utah Valley University, where he had been visiting campus.
World Outreach Church pastor Allen Jackson, who announced Kirk’s appearance back in July, shared a heartfelt statement on social media following the news of his death.
“Every day we have is a gift from the Lord. What occurred on Utah Valley University’s campus today is a sobering reminder of that,” Jackson wrote. He described Kirk as “a bold truth-teller, brother in Christ, and friend,” adding that his impact on culture, the nation, and the church “will live on.”
Jackson urged prayers for Kirk’s wife, Erika, and their children, and encouraged supporters to honor Kirk’s legacy by continuing to “speak the truth in boldness, not living in fear.”
Conference organizers also confirmed the event will proceed, noting on Facebook, “in honor of his life and legacy, it’s more important than ever to use our voices to proclaim biblical truth across our nation.”
The Culture & Christianity Conference will feature pastors, speakers, and Christian leaders addressing issues of faith and culture.
