The City of La Vergne Channel 3 will be down for a few weeks while the station undergoes a major upgrade.

Channel 3 went offline on October 2nd around 7:00 a.m. It is not expected to be back online until October 15th at the earliest. Videos of meetings will still be posted in a timely manner to the City of La Vergne’s YouTube page in the interim.

Unfortunately, the video recording system crashed several months ago as preparations for the studio upgrade were being finalized. There was no way to get the system to be operational again.

The last upgrade for the Channel 3 studio was completed in 2009. The new upgrades will bring several much needed improvements, including Closed Captioning, High Definition, and the ability to live stream meetings to various social media sites. Channel 3 is accessible on Comcast (channel 3), AT&T (channel 99) and will be available on TDS after the upgrades are completed.

“Modernizing our city systems is important as we keep growing,” says Mayor Jason Cole. “It’s important that we continue to broadcasting for our city meetings to meet our high level of transparency to the public as well as being able to offer new ADA compliant features.”

The repairs were budgeted in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 fiscal year budgets and will cost approximately $220,000.
