Burt Reynolds, actor known for his roles in ‘Smokey and the Bandit,’ ‘ Deliverance’ and ‘The Cannonball Run’ died on Thursday in Florida from cardiac arrest, reported the Hollywood Reporter. Reynolds was 82.
Reynolds died Thursday morning at a hospital in Juniper Medical Center in Florida.
“My uncle was not just a movie icon; he was a generous, passionate and sensitive man who was dedicated to his family, friends, fans and acting students,” his niece, Nancy Lee Hess, said in a statement.
“He has had health issues, however, this was totally unexpected. He was tough. Anyone who breaks their tailbone on a river and finishes the movie is tough. And that’s who he was. My uncle was looking forward to working with Quentin Tarantino [In Once Upon a Time in Hollywood] and the amazing cast that was assembled.”
Dolly Parton shared on Facebook, “Oh how sad I am today along with Burt‘s millions of fans around the world as we mourn one of our favorite leading men. I know we will always remember his funny laugh, that mischievous sparkle in his eyes, and his quirky sense of humor. You will always be my favorite sheriff, rest in peace my little buddy and I will always love you, Dolly”
Reba McEntire also shared about Reynolds, “My good friend has started a new journey. Rest in my peace my friend. I’ll never forget the wonderful times we spent together. #BurtReynolds”
