Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews plan to shift traffic at the intersection of SR 10/96 (Old Fort Parkway /Memorial Boulevard) and SR 1 (Broad Street) this week for the ongoing Bridge Over Broad interchange project in Murfreesboro.

The traffic shift will take a few nights to complete, with the first work currently scheduled for the night of Tuesday, August 23. Crews will be working from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. each night, with alternating lane closures on Old Fort Parkway, Memorial Boulevard, and Broad Street.

Once the new traffic pattern is in place, eastbound traffic on Old Fort Parkway will be traveling on the newly constructed ramps on the south side of the roadway. The new traffic pattern will be in place until the project completion, which is scheduled for December 2017. The Bridge Over Broad project, which started in January 2014, calls for a complete reconstruction of the intersection of Broad Street and Memorial Blvd./Old Fort Parkway by creating a single point urban interchange to relieve extreme congestion.

The project will create a new bridge on Memorial Blvd. that will cross over Broad Street. The $17.6 million project is expected to be completed in December 2017.
