Jacob Pennington had two hits and three RBIs to help the Oakland Patriots past Siegel 9-5 in Rutherford County high school baseball action Wednesday.
The Patriots jumped out to a 5-0 lead before host Siegel battled back, but Oakland put the game away scoring three runs in the sixth inning.
The two teams are scheduled for a rematch Thursday at 6 p.m.at Oakland.
In other action, Riverdale and Stewarts Creek split a doubleheader where pitching dominated for both teams.
Stewarts Creek won the opener 2-0 behind the pitching combination of Daniel Freeman and Brandon Rooney. The Warriors bounced back with a 1-0 shutout of their own in the second game, with Tanner Cunningham picking up the victory for Riverdale.
LaVergne also posted a shutout, besting rival Smyrna, 2-0, on Wednesday.
Also, Franklin County pounded Blackman 11-0.
