The 7th annual Parade of Lights in La Vergne has been scheduled for Saturday, December 2 at 6:00 p.m. The parade theme is “Hometown Christmas.”

Mrs. Shirley Winfree, La Vergne’s first female Mayor, will serve as the Grand Marshal at the parade.

Lineup for the Parade of Lights is at 5:00 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park. The parade will begin at 6:00 p.m. and end at La Vergne City Hall, where the city will have its annual tree lighting ceremony. The La Vergne High School Choraliers will be there to perform Christmas songs for the community.

“Our Christmas parade is a great way for our city to kick off the holiday season,” said Julie Wilson, the event’s coordinator. “This is our seventh annual event and it gets better every year!  I hope everyone comes out for the beautiful floats and Christmas carols, then enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and say hello to Santa Claus.”

Prizes will be given for best parade entries.  There is no fee to enter, but the parade entry deadline is November 30.  Contact the Parks & Rec Department at 615-793-3224 for more information.
