Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop, a down-home pie shop, recently opened in Murfreesboro at 2314 Medical Center Pkwy Suite A3.
The shop offers made from scratch pies, ice cream and cookies. They will celebrate their opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Sept 6th.
We spoke with Miranda Smith of Buttermilk Sky Pie and here’s 5 things you need to know about the new pie shop:
1. They offer 10 flavors
Buttermilk Sky Pie has 9 daily flavors that will be offered year round and a 10th flavor will be a seasonal offering that changes every few months. For those who like coconut, their coconut cream pie will be released on Friday, August 24.
2. Everything is made from scratch daily
Because quality and presentation are their top priorities, every element of each pie is made from scratch. They make the dough for the crust and press each individual crust. They also make all of the fillings and toppings in house every day.
3. It’s a family business
The owners are Ken and Chris Smith. They were introduced to the Buttermilk Sky Pie brand through their son after he brought one of the pies to a family dinner. Everyone was so impressed by the pie and the quality and presentation of the product, especially Ken and Chris, they had to know more about the company and how they could get involved. The rest is history!
4. You can buy more than just pies
Although the pies may be the main attraction, they also have scratch made thumbprint cookies (shortbread crust filled with a sweetened vanilla icing). The shortbread cookies are offered in two flavors – classic shortbread and chocolate. The chocolate shortbread thumbprint cookies are filled with a chocolate ganache icing. They also offer a Cloud 9. This is their signature take on pie a la mode. They combine a mini pie with a scoop of ice cream so you get pie and ice cream in every bite.
5. They’re involved in the community
Buttermilk Sky Pie partners with local schools and organizations to give back to the community through their Pie It Forward program.
