Local Living: 5 Things to do This Week

1. Fall Family Fun Festival

WHAT: Lucky Ladd Farm’s Fall Family Fun Festival kicks off this week. More than a pumpkin patch, Lucky Ladd Farms offers a unique farm experience. Don’t miss fall treats including kettle corn, gourmet caramel apples, fresh-baked donuts, and apple cider slushies.

Lucky Ladd also offers a wide variety of pumpkins, squash, and gourds to choose from. Shopping and dining on-site.

Purchase tickets here.

WHEN: Begins Wednesday, Sept 18 and runs through November 1

2. Shakespeare in Love

WHAT: Young Will Shakespeare has writer’s block… the deadline for his new play is fast approaching but he’s in desperate need of inspiration. That is until he finds his muse – Viola. This beautiful young woman is Will’s greatest admirer and will stop at nothing (including breaking the law) to appear in his next play. Against a bustling background of mistaken identity, ruthless scheming, and backstage theatrics, Will’s love for Viola quickly blossoms and inspires him to write his greatest masterpiece.

WHEN: The first show takes place Friday, Sept 20th at 7:30pm. More showtimes here.

WHERE: The Center for the Arts, 110 West College Street, Murfreesboro

3. Free Yoga at The Avenue

WHAT: Participate in a free yoga class with certified instructor Kim Dunaway. Class is held outdoors. Participants are asked to bring a light-colored mat, towel and water, and complete signed waiver.

WHEN: Thursday, Sept 19, 7pm

WHERE: The Avenue, 2615 Medical Center Pkwy, Murfreesboro

4. Area 51 Raid Party

WHAT:  A few months ago, college student Matty Robers created an event on Facebook called “Storm Area 51.” Although Roberts says the event was meant to be a joke, it went viral and millions of people rsvp’d. The satirical event has, however, turned into a real festival called Alienstock to be held in Las Vegas. If you can’t go to Vegas, celebrate the crazy rage at The Casual Pint in Smyrna. Dress up, bring games, bring your friends!

Beer, flatbreads, aliens and wings! What more could you ask for?!

WHEN: Friday, Sept 20, 7pm

WHERE: The Casual Pint, 427 Sam Ridley Pkwy W, Smyrna
