1. Murfreesboro Veterans Day Memorial Service

WHAT: The 2019 Murfreesboro Veterans Day Memorial Service is set for Veterans Day, November 11 at 11:00 am. This year, the service is indoors in the Rutherford County Courthouse in the courtroom on the 2nd floor. The keynote speaker this year is Major General William G. Hickman.

Maj. Gen. William B. Hickman completed 36 years of service, retiring in November. His last assignment was the Director, Strategic Plans and Policy for the NATO Allied Transformation Command, Norfolk, VA. His prior assignments include serving as the Deputy Commanding General, U.S. Army Central, Arifjan, Kuwait. Commanding General of Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk, Louisiana. Deputy Commanding General (Support and Operations), 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Commander 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky and Operation Iraqi Freedom, Iraq. Commander, 1st Battalion 502nd Infantry, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell Kentucky and Operation Iraqi Freedom, Iraq. Commander Bravo Company 3rd Battalion 325th Infantry Regiment (Airborne Combat Team), United States Army Southern Europe Task Force, Vicenza, Italy. Hickman earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Vanderbilt University. He later earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Vanderbilt University and a Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.

He is married to Mayme Bennett Hickman and they have one daughter, Elizabeth, a senior at the University of Tennessee.

3. Paws & Claus

WHAT: Bring your furry, four-legged friends to have photos taken with Santa at Stones River Mall. Dogs and cats only; they must be leashed or crated at all times. Beesley Animal Foundation will be on site providing information about their services and accepting food donations. Event is sponsored by Doggie’s Day Out.

4. Paint Me a Story


WHAT: The Pottery Place hosts “Paint Me a Story” at The Avenue. Attendees will read “There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Turkey” and then paint your very own turkey figurine. Call 615-893-5556 or stop by to sign up and reserve your spot. Open to ages 6 and under – $12 (plus tax) per child.

5. Tilted Tuesday Fighting Games and Pinball Tournaments

WHAT: The new Game Galaxy weekly series featuring Street Fighter V, Guilty Gear Xrd Rev2, Smash Bros Ultimate, AND IFPA Pinball tournaments.

All Fighting game tournaments are $6 Venue fee + $4 entry fee.

6:30pm – Street Fighter V
7:pm – GGXrd
7:30 – Smash Ultimate
PAYOUT top 3 – 60/30/10% split.

POT BONUS at 16 entrants each game.
SFV and GG – $50
Smash Ultimate – $100

ALL FIGHTING GAME ENTRANTS may enter Pinball tourney for free.
