5 Star Wars Day Events

Star Wars fans unite today–May 4th–in honor of Star Wars Day. Here are some local events paying homage to the Star Wars franchise.

1. Free Comic Book Day 2019

Murfreesboro Business and Rutherford County Library system are celebrating the free comic book day with comics, games, and other festivities for the day.

Check out Outer Limits Boro with free comics, games, caricatures, and a signing. Chris Stevens will be on site for signatures, sketches, and more. He has free and for purchase options. Gregory Lannon will be on site drawing caricatures for everyone. Many heroes and villains will be present, such as Captain America, Spider-Man, Ice Man, Joker, Harley Quinn, and MORE! Costumes and cosplay are welcome. They will also raffle off the “Trunk of Goodies” during the afternoon drawing as well as a huge sale.

The Great Escape Murfreesboro, just up the road, is offering 5 free comics per a person during their event as well as additional free ones for dressing in cosplay and purchases of $10 or more. Some possible titles to choose from include Riverdale, Star Wars Adventures, Avengers, Spider-man, Spawn, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and much more.

Then stop by any of the 5 branches of the Rutherford County Library System for more free comics and activities. They will have movies, popcorn, games, and prizes.

2. May the 4th Be With You-Star Wars Night

Hop Springs, 6790 John Bragg Hwy, Murfreesboro

Jedi’s, Wookies, Robots and even members of the empire are welcome to come out and hear great rock n roll and arrangements of Star Wars music by the Steel Barrell band, fun specials & more! Event takes place 7:30p – 10:30p.

3. Meet Me at the Zoo: Star Wars

 

Nashville Zoo, 3777 Nolensville Road, Nashville

May the 4th be with Nashville Zoo as we welcome visitors from a galaxy far far away. This installment of Meet Me at the Zoo will feature Star Wars characters who will be available for photos and to meet their adventurous fans beginning at 10am.

Guests are encouraged to dress as their favorite characters from the Star Wars movies.  GAMES & ACTIVITIES: Kids are invited to participate in the Zoo’s Jedi Training Camp, featuring games and activities built to test their knowledge of the Force. Event activities take place from 10am to 3pm.

MEET AND GREET: Character meet and greets will begin at 10am until 12pm and resume at 1pm through 3pm. Characters will greet guests on first come, first serve basis. We cannot guarantee a one-on-one meet and greet for each guest, but do our best to accommodate the most families as possible within the characters’ allotted time.

To maximize your chances of meeting the featured character(s), plan to arrive early to get a spot in line. Zoo staff will monitor the line and communicate to guests when the line exceeds character availability. Meet Me at the Zoo is an event series for Zoo visitors that offers special activities and character meet and greets. These events are included with general Zoo admission and Nashville Zoo membership.

4. May the 4th Be With You Bar Crawl

 

Demonbreun Street, Nashville

On Saturday, May 4th at 3 p on Demonbreun as members of the Galactic Empire and Rebel Alliance unite as one for a celebration like no other! Travel at light speed through 5 of the best bars in town as we turn Nashville into a well-known galaxy far, far, away! There will be Yazoo & Tito’s Vodka drinks specials at every bar, a best-dressed costume contest (we highly encourage you to dress up), an interactive scavenger hunt with a chance to win prizes, and more! Did we also mention Included in your ticket, you will receive your own custom lightsaber! Each bar will have a Master Jedi to help guide you through the galaxy!

5. May the 4th Be with You Kickball Tournament

 

West Park Community Center, 6105 Morrow Road, Nashville

Take part in the May The Fourth Be With You Kickball Tournament! This one of a kind Star Wars themed kickball tournament is benefitting Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee. A portion of proceeds from this tournament will be donated to Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. There will also be appearances by your favorite Star Wars characters!
