Natural and minimalistic weddings with bold accents are trending for 2019. With the increased interest in sustainability and being close to nature, country chic weddings continue to be popular, and there are many great locations in and around Rutherford County to have one. Another trend is getting married at a destination winery or distillery. There are several of these in the area, too.

Rustic style, vintage touches, lots of live flowers, and green plants are being used to set the scene for contemporary weddings.

While the basic traditions of the wedding remain in some form, couples are tailoring their special days to their beliefs and interests, making each one totally unique. This can be everything from wearing matching high top tennis shoes with their formal attire, to serving brunch on mix and match vintage plates, to blending cultures.

No matter how brides and grooms set their wedding apart, here are five farm settings that are sure to make any modern couple happy. We have chosen a few of the local options, from one in the middle of town in Murfreesboro, to a destination distillery in Cannon County.

The Grove at Williamson Place

the grove weddingThe Grove at Williamson Place is a farm event space under a grove of old pecan trees right down the road from the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce, and across from The Avenue in Murfreesboro. It offers several spaces for events that are indoors, as well as wonderful outdoor spaces including, most years, a field of sunflowers.

Weddings may be booked on Friday or Saturday. Rentals include the main barn, Bridal House, and the Silage Shed. The Grove will also provide 250 chairs, twenty 60-inch round tables, eight 72-inch round tables, signs to direct traffic to your wedding, and the use of the property for engagement and bridal photos.

Belle Meadows Farms

belle meadows farm weddingBeautiful sunsets and the backdrop of a Tennessee Plantation Southern Living Home are just part of what makes a wedding at Belle Meadows Farms special. Located in Lascassas, about ten minutes outside of Murfreesboro, Belle Meadows Farms offers a 100-year-old oak tree and vintage silo next to a unique barn.

Many of the weddings take place under the oak tree, or in the yard to the side of the barn near a stone fireplace. A specially designed bride’s suite is located in the loft of the barn, offering the bride and her wedding party an elegant to prepare for the event.

Receptions typically use the barn for food and beverage service, and later dancing, with diner under the string lights that hang over the side yard, or under a tent.

Owner Susan Wilson notes that the farm has become a wedding destination, drawing brides from as far away as Australia. Typically, they are booked 22 weekends a year during the wedding season from April to October.

Stone Gate Farm/The Manor at Twin Oaks

Twin OaksCindy and Doyle Boyd, the owners of Stone Gate Farm and The Manor at Twin Oaks, know how to pay attention to detail. After all, they moved the Victorian house in the 1980s, which was built just after the Civil War, from Main Street in Murfreesboro to its current location in Millington, TN and then put it all back together again. A process that took two years, and lots of help from their three young daughters.

After retiring from the world of education, they turned their home into a bed and breakfast, and then added Stone Gate Farm’s wedding facilities a few years later.

Located among rolling hills just outside of Murfreesboro, Stone Gate Farm includes an elegant, yet rustic barn, a newly remodeled guest house, and outdoor venues. Additional lodging is available at The Manor.

All-inclusive packages and event planning services are available. The Boyd’s attention to detail will insure that your wedding is beautiful and memorable. One reviewer said it all, “They made my daughter’s faity tale dreams for her wedding come true.”
