Independence Day is just around the corner, which means its time for local firework shows. Check out our list of 2019 firework shows in Rutherford County.

Murfreesboro

murfreesboro fourth of julyThe City of Murfreesboro will host its annual “Celebration Under the Stars” Thursday, July 4 at McKnight Park. Festivities kick off with a “Rock the Pool” party from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at Boro Beach behind the Sports*Com complex. Admission to the pool party is $5 for youth and seniors, and $7 for adults.

Free family-oriented activities including live music, food vendors, inflatables and games will begin at 4:00 p.m. at McKnight Park. Local band Hardin Draw will perform from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and at 7 p.m. the Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department will present colors. The National Anthem, sung by Perform Murfreesboro member Vontrell Hardrick, will be followed by welcoming comments and introductions.

The band Love Canon will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Love Canon brings their acoustic-roots sensibilities to the electronic-tinged pop hits of the 80’s and 90’s, delivering a fresh set of classics, crossing genres to recount music of decades past from the likes of Peter Gabriel, Billy Joel, Depeche Mode, and Paul Simon.

The fireworks display by Pyro Shows will light up the sky at 9 p.m. For safety purposes, pets, alcoholic beverages, cooking grills and personal fireworks or sparklers are not permitted on the celebration site. In addition, banners and signs from outside groups, other than the evening’s sponsors, will not be allowed on the grounds. Families are encouraged, however, to bring picnic baskets, lawn chairs, and blankets for picnicking on the grass. Various food vendors will sell soft drinks, pizza, hotdogs, and other traditional snacks and desserts.

Parking: Please enter the entrances for McKnight Park from DeJarnette Lane. Please note that parking within McKnight Park will be limited with less spots available than previous years. The parking lot in the rear of the park will be closed for the fireworks staging area due to growth at the airport. The DeJarnette Lane exit will be available at all times and the Airport Road exit will be available once the area is cleared by Pyro Shows after the show, an estimated 20-30 minutes. Parking will not be permitted on DeJarnette Lane or Memorial Blvd. Friends and families are encouraged to carpool to maximize the parking available.

Sponsors of the event include the City of Murfreesboro, Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation, Murfreesboro Police Department, and Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department.

For more information about the celebration, call steering committee chair Becki Johnson, 615-890-5333.
