Laura Davidson has been selected as the 2019 La Vergne Parade of Lights Grand Marshal.

Davidson moved to La Vergne in 1999 with her then-husband and three children. In 2009, Davidson’s son was hit by a car. She was moved by the professionalism and dedication of the emergency personnel who showed up to the scene and later decided she wanted to find a way to give back. Shortly after she began working with Box 100, a local non-profit organization that supports and assists city emergency departments with duties like crowd and traffic control as well as providing rehab to personnel on lengthy and exhausting emergency calls. Davidson was elected to serve as Chief of the organization in 2011.

For the first time Davidson will be riding in the parade, not helping manage it. “It’s going to be different,” Davidson said. “I’ve always had a large hand in helping so I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself. In all honesty, as soon as the parade is over I’ll probably be back out on the line helping with the rest of the parade.”

Davidson has served on multiple city boards and committees over the years and is currently a member of the Greenway Committee and the Local Emergency Planning Committee. She previously also served on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee.

The 9th annual Parade of Lights is on December 7, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. The parade begins at Veterans Memorial Park located at 115 Floyd Mayfield Drive. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served while the La Vergne High School Choraliers perform holiday songs and B&B Family Fireworks is hosting a free fireworks show for the community. Rumor has it that Santa and Mrs. Claus may stop by for a visit to hear what kids want for Christmas and to take free photos with families.
