10 Upcoming Programs at St Clair Senior Center in May

The St. Clair Senior Center is a hub for seniors getting together, enjoying community, and participating in games, activities, and fun. There’s also a ton of artistry that happens every month from craft making to music, painting and acting. No matter what kind of artist you are, there’s something for everyone. Here’s 10 upcoming programs at the St. Clair Senior Center in May.

Singing Seniors

If singing is what you love, come join this amazing group! The only requirement you must have is to be able to show up! There is no audition, just come, join in and sing along. These happen once a week on Mondays from 1-2 pm in room S104.

Open Knit, Crochet, and Quilting

Join this very welcoming group of crafters. Knitters and crocheters who offer inspiration and motivation with your knitting and crocheting projects. Volunteer quilters do quilting for people in the public for a donation that goes to the senior center. No sign up required. Bring your own supplies. These are every Tuesday and Thursday from 10a-2p. Meets in Room R405.

Open Art Studio

Bring your own supplies and projects and work alongside like-minded artists for inspiration and creativity. This happens every Wednesday from 12-3pm and meets in Room R406.

Social Ceramics

Learn different techniques for painting on ceramics in this fun class. Pay the instructor for the piece you choose to work on. Price includes piece, paint and firing. Instructor Vivian Karros accepts cash, checks and credit cards. This class meets every Tuesday from 8:30-11:30 am and Meets in Room R406.

Seniors Acting Up

Come and join in this fun group as they bring laughter, mystery & drama into the lives of others. Everyone is welcome! They meet every Thursday from 1-3pm and meet in Room S105.

Seniors Acting Up Presents “Senior TV”

They’re also putting on a production called “Senior TV” this month May 10th and 11th at the senior center which includes a meal and a show. A group of seniors decide they need a TV network devoted to more seasoned citizens. Back Stage Romance GALORE!! Tickets will be sold in advance and at the door for $5. Seats are limited to 120 each show.

Acrylic Techniques

Happening twice this month, you can learn different techniques using acrylic paints with artist Vivian Karros. All supplies are provided. $25 fee collected at 8:45 am by the instructor first day of class with credit card, cash, or check made out to Vivian Karros. Class meets on May 15 and 29. Limited to 12 students.

Introduction to Guitar

This class will teach participants to play and understand basic chords and songs for immediate enjoyment! Bring your guitar. This class is taught by Jane McNulty and starts on Friday May 17th with weekly classes from 10-11 am. Pay instructor first day of class by cash or check. Call the center to make your reservation. Limited to 12 students.

Music Jam Session

When you’re done learning the guitar or just want to play or listen to music generally, bring your instrument and play along with the jam group who take turns playing in the round and singing with everyone accompanying. Sign up required, but anyone welcome. Meets in Room S105 once a week on Friday afternoons from 1-3pm.

Harmonicas for your Health

Have you always wanted to play music? Are you looking for something fun and interesting to do while improving your lung health? This might be just the thing you are looking for. The COPD Foundation’s H4H class is a good way to exercise your lungs, learn how to play the harmonica, and meet new friends. No music background is needed! Class Meets every Thursday from 1-2pm in Room R502. Class is limited to 20 students.
