Well at least in the county, and he is a familiar face. Michael Fitzhugh was named interim Sheriff until either former Sheriff Robert Arnold is acquitted of federal charges, doubtful. Or, until the next election.
16 names originally picked up applications. 12 applied. 5 had ties to the County Sheriff’s office in one aspect or another. The list was narrowed to a final four. Fitzhugh won the job over Dale Armour 11-10.
Ironically, Armour also finished second to imprisoned Arnold in the last election.
Fitzhugh is a former Captain of the Sheriff’s office.
