It was the long way home, but Stewarts Creek was able to get there. As Thursday dawned the only thing that was certain was that 2 wins were needed to reach State.
Game 1: Stewarts Creek 5 Jefferson County 3
The Red Hawks score 3 in the third, before Jefferson County stormed back in the 6th to tie it up. They headed to extra innings in the 8th when Stewarts Creek scored 2 at the top of the inning for the win. Vondohlen had another good outing pitching the complete game for the win. 30 minutes later….
Game 2 Stewarts Creek 11 Jefferson County 1
This game was never in doubt after the first inning. After one the score was 2-1 Redhawks, but then the bats got hot scoring 2 more in the 2nd and 3rd innings. Moriarty was awesome on the mound, pitching the complete game and striking out 8.
Stewarts Creek will face Brentwood at 5:00 at MTSU to decide the State Championship.
