MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After sweeping through a tournament field for the third time in the last two years, Middle Tennessee heads out for its first true road game of the season as the Blue Raiders take on Ole Miss in Oxford Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.

The Raiders and Rebels have met eight times before dating all the way back to the 1948-49 season with the series tied, 4-4. Ole Miss won the last meeting in 2013 but had fallen in four straight against MT prior to that meeting.

Head Coach Kermit Davis is 2-1 against the Rebels with a home win in 2012 and a neutral site win in Southaven, Miss., in 2011.

“We’ve had some great games with Ole Miss and [head coach] Andy [Kennedy] has done an unbelievable job in his 11 years there,” Davis said. “He’s made seven postseasons and they sure look like an NCAA Tournament team to me. They’ve got great guards, are really athletic, play really hard and are 5-1 with their only loss being to Creighton.

“Andy and I talk a lot of basketball and this is a great series for Middle Tennessee. I think this is a really great RPI game for Ole Miss and then they’ll return the trip to Murfreesboro in 2017, we’ll play at Bridgestone Arena in 2018 and go back to Oxford in 2019, so we’re looking forward to a real competitive series.”

Middle Tennessee (6-1) is led into the match-up by leading scorer JaCorey Williams, who is averaging a conference-best 21.6 points per game and is second in the nation in field goals made (66).

Senior forward Reggie Upshaw is adding 14.0 points and 6.4 rebounds per outing while junior guard Giddy Potts is putting up 13.6 points and pulling down 6.0 boards per game.

Ole Miss (5-1) is led by junior guard Deandre Burnett and his 23.2 points per game, but boast five players averaging double digits in the scoring column.

Senior forward Sebastian Saiz is second on the team in scoring at 14.2 points per game and is grabbing 11.2 rebounds per contest.
