Baseball Roundup: Stewarts Creek Stops Overton

The Stewarts Creek Red Hawks stepped out of district play and posted an 11-6 win over Overton Thursday in high school baseball action.
Stewarts Creek is now 23-7 with the win. The pitching combo of Blake Slaughter and Will Duffee had 11 strikeouts total against the Bobcats.
The Blackman Blaze also continued their strong play, edging the Riverdale Warriors, 10-8, to complete a three-game sweep.
Peyton Milam had three hits, including a bases-loaded triple, and D.J. Wright slugged a grand slam to pace Blackman, which improved to 23-7. Riverdale fell to 16-13.
Oakland edged District 7-AAA rival Smyrna, 4-3, as the Patriots improved their season mark to 13-15. Smyrna is now 5-21 after the loss.
Zach Bondurant and Drew Benefield eahc had three hits as the Siegel Stars blanked the LaVergne Wolverines. Siegel is now 17-12 after completing a three-game sweep of the series. LaVergne dropped to 5-18.
Middle Tennessee Christian won two games, against two different opponents Thursday, topping Mt. Juliet Christian, 3-2, and Culleoka, 5-2. The Cougars are now 15-10. Ben Durham was MTCS’ hitting star with four hits in the two games.
Central Magnet improved to 21-9 on the year after besting Lawrence County, 4-1.
